Since Basie’s passing in 1984, Thad Jones, Frank Foster, Grover Mitchell, Bill Hughes, Dennis Mackrel and now, Scott Barnhart have led the Count Basie Orchestra and maintained it as one of the elite performing organizations in jazz.
