CBO European Tour - Helsinki, FL

  • Helsinki Hall of Culture 4 Sturenkatu Helsinki, Uusimaa, 00510 Finland (map)

The legendary Count Basie Orchestra will arrive in Finland in November. This world-renowned orchestra will bring its memorable Christmas song program to Helsinki's Kulttuuritalo on November 26 and Tampere Hall on November 27. Tickets for the concerts start at 69.90 euros and are already on sale at Lippu.fi.

The Count Basie Orchestra is considered one of the world's most significant jazz orchestras. Pianist and bandleader William James "Count" Basie (1904–1984) founded the ensemble bearing his name in 1935. Since 2013, The Count Basie Orchestra has been led by trumpeter Scotty Barnhart.

The Count Basie Orchestra is one of the few, if not the only, jazz and swing orchestras that continues to tour the world 30 years after the death of its original conductor. At the same time, the orchestra continues to receive substantial accolades worldwide.

For instance, in 2018, readers of Downbeat magazine named the orchestra the best jazz orchestra in the world. That same year, The Count Basie Orchestra also received a Grammy nomination for their album "All About That Basie," which featured guest artists such as Stevie Wonder, Jon Faddis, Take 6, and Kurt Elling.

Their 2015 album, "A Very Swingin' Basie Christmas," topped jazz charts around the globe, and in 2020, the orchestra celebrated its 85th anniversary.

In November, this top-tier orchestra will once again delight Finnish audiences with its program of beloved international Christmas songs.
