It’s an evening of swinging small group jazz featuring two of the biggest stars with the multi-Grammy award winning Legendary Count Basie Orchestra – saxophonist Doug Lawrence and vocalist Carmen Bradford, accompanied by the Count Basie Orchestra rhythm section comprising Glen Pearson, piano; Trevor Ware, bass; Brandon Lee, trumpet; and Robert Boone, drums. The daughter of legendary trumpeter Bobby Bradford and renowned vocalist Melba Joyce and the grand-daughter of vocalist Melvin Moore, Carmen Bradford was hired by Count Basie in 1982 and spent 9 years with the band as the featured vocalist, returning again in 2008. She has worked with everyone from Wynton Marsalis, Nancy Wilson and George Benson to Joe Williams, James Brown, Patti Austin, Lou Rawls and countless others. New Mexico resident and Outpost favorite, Doug Lawrence, has been the featured tenor saxophone soloist with the Count Basie Orchestra for the last 25 years. He has performed and recorded with the most iconic artists in American music history, including Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Sarah Vaughan, Tony Bennett, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Nancy Wilson, Dizzy Gillespie, Lady Gaga, and more.
