The Legendary Count Basie Orchestra

Directed by Scotty Barnhart

Guest vocalist Carmen Bradford

Kicking off the weekend of Grand Opening festivities is The Legendary Count Basie Orchestra with a not-to-be-missed performance. This iconic jazz ensemble has won 18 Grammy Awards, performed for kings and queens, and has played at every major jazz festival and concert hall in the world.

In the history of jazz music, there has only been one bandleader with the distinction of having his orchestra still performing sold-out concerts all over the world—with members personally chosen by him—over 30 years after his passing. Pianist and bandleader William James “Count” Basie was and still is, an American institution that personifies the grandeur and excellence of jazz.

Today, under the leadership of Scotty Barnhart, The Legendary Count Basie Orchestra travels the world, swinging and shouting the blues with precision, while maintaining their standard as “the most explosive force in jazz.”
