Masterful poet Kamau Daahood, co-founder of The World Stage Performance Gallery, brings his brand of rooted, street poetry to the recently revitalized World Stage. Daaood is not only a master wordsmith, but an artistic phoenix who grew in prominence with the release almost 20 years ago of his CD "Leimert Park". The recording spoke of his upbringing as an artist and the obligations the arts have in communities; Leimert Park, perhaps the last remaining bastion of African american art and culture in Los Angeles,  being the best foil. Notably, Daaood's lyrical illustrations often ride on the waves of a jazz groove. Here again, Daaood has assembled some of the known, and lesser known jazz impresarios of our time as musical support. An engagement not to be missed.
