8:00-9:30 Elliot Caine Quintet. An all Latin Jazz program. Elliott was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, and studied with the renowned David Baker while a student at Indiana University. In Indianapolis, Elliott performed with the Jimmy Coe Big Band, which also featured Ermin Hubbard, brother of Freddie. After moving to Los Angeles, Elliott performed and/or recorded with Teddy Edwards, Ernie Andrews, OC Smith, Al McKibbon, Barbara Morrison, Sweet Baby Jai, Francisco Aguabella, The Machito Orchestra, Bobby Matos, Estrada Brothers, La Sonora Dinamita, Garcia Brothers, Rudy Calzado, La Sonora Santanera, El Vez, Wyclef Jean, Beck, The Beastie Boys, Filter (received Platinum Record), Tierra, The Solsonics, Jump With Joey (including 3 tours of Japan); comedian-singer, Joey Cheezhee, which included appearances on "Entertainment Tonight" and an HBO special, "On The Ledge", and the notorious, Dr. Jack Kevorkian (CD entitled, A Very Still Life). Elliott performed in one of the centennial celebrations of Kurt Weill's birth in a concert entitled, "Nina Wachenfeld Sings Kurt Weill". Elliott was also part of the orchestra featured at the LA House of Blues presentation, "Andy Kaufman: Dead or Alive?" Additionally, two of Elliott's original compositions were used in the Los Angeles Theatre Center's production of the Tony Award winning play revival of "Sideman", reprised for a week in May, 2010 at the Skirball Center in Los Angeles, featuring many of the original cast members. Elliott's trumpet playing was also utilized for the LATC production of "Look Back in Anger" in 2012. Both productions were broadcast nationally on NPR.
